Disability.gov
Disability.gov is a federal website for people with disabilities, their families, friends, caregivers, educators, employers and others.
The site has information on benefits, healthcare, finding a job, paying for housing, legal rights and many other topics. There are links to websites and articles about national and state programs and organizations. Maybe you are looking for information about transportation – anything from local paratransit to your rights under the Air Carrier Access Act – you can find it at Disability.gov.
Each month, members of the White House Domestic Policy Council and Office of Public Engagement who work on disability issues host a public, live-captioned conference call to keep you better informed of important disability issues and to connect you to the leaders who work on disability policies in the federal government. Over the past several months, these calls have featured discussions on accessibility, employment, education, technology, emergency preparedness, transportation, healthcare and the budget, just to name a few. The Secretaries of Education and Transportation and other senior Administration officials have participated on calls.
Right now, Disability.gov is offering you the opportunity to suggest the topics discussed on the monthly disability calls and/or the speakers who participate. They want to hear from you. Just click on the link to the White House Monthly Disability Call on the front page of Disability.gov and you'll be taken to a form to fill out and submit with your suggestions. There is also a link on the same page to be added to an email list to receive notices about the calls.
Be sure to check out Disability.blog for posts on issues around employment, housing, civil rights and more.
